Wej in the Woods

As is usual in England on a Bank Holiday it normally rains, so it was for the faithfull who went to Stanmore for a picnice, here their story.

11.00am on Bank Holiday Monday  -  it is pouring with rain and all does not bode well for the picnic on Stanmore Common!!!  However, by 11.30 the Jacksons and Glasses are at the entrance to the Common, the sun is shining, coats are off and we start to tie orange ribbon to random tress in the woods creating a trail for the matzah ramblers to follow.

By 12.30 the party is in full swing.  There are 26 kids with parents in full Pesach picnic mode - from matzah sandwiches, to tuna bites, to sweets and chocolate - followed by more sweets and chocolate!!!

Stanmore Common is a very beautiful open space with thick woods and a huge clearings to run around in.  You could be in the middle of anywhere, but it is only 10 minutes away from home!!!  There are no permanent playgrounds but the kids had great fun exploring the woods, making bridges over streams and generally getting mucky.  It was amazing to see how much fun they could have the "old fashioned" way!!    After the woods, the kids went to find the deer and fed them grass and fruit (we figured matzah might not be so great for them!!!) and Rabbi Lister started a debate on venison shwarma!!

If you have any ideas for next year's outing let Matthew know!!!
