A.C.E. stands for Amazing Cheder in Edgware. We have started a very successful pre-Barmitzvah and Batmitzvah course. Running between 10 AM and 12 PM on Sundays during term time - the course lasts for one academic year. Taught by Rabbi Lister it aims both to inspire and educate. There are plenty of trips and fun hands-on learning.
The programme’s primary aim is to enthuse participants about their Jewish identity and heritage. It is also designed to equip participants with a broad range of knowledge, skills and experiences to help them to lead a fulfilling life as Jewish adults. The programme’s goals are ambitious, and participants will be expected to do some work independently and not during Cheder time. There is an emphasis on learning through doing.
The programme assumes an ability to read Hebrew and some knowledge of the tenets, rules and practices of Judaism. Lessons will be tailored to take their needs into account, and help will be offered to enable them to attain the knowledge and skills of the other children through independent study.
The Cheder terms will be broadly in line with school terms. The morning lasts from 10 AM – 12 PM, with a break from approximately 10:55 – 11:15.
