Loraine says:

“Life is full of opportunities and sometimes you should grab them when they occur.

One day whilst sorting through some old boxes I came across a picture I did at school. I guess I must have liked it as it was the only drawing I kept. It was not brilliant enough to make me think I must go to art college, but that little bit of talent inside me stayed in that box for over 25 years. This was until 1998 when I came across a painting group and they asked me to join them. I had always admired people who were good at crafts, drawing etc, and I did want to be that person – so this was an opportunity not to pass me by – the gauntlet had been thrown at my feet – I was ready for the challenge – and I’ve never looked back.

A small selection of my paintings can be seen at the Royal Free Hospital and some of my work is for sale.

When I opened the class last year I said ‘this time next year we will have an exhibition. In June 2006 a room of 250 paintings welcomed guests to the first art exhibition to be held at Edgware United Synagogue. Over 40 artists exhibited their paintings. We had a wonderful afternoon and I think everybody felt it was a great success. I hope this will become an annual event.
